Application-Specific Thermoplastic Piping Systems

IPEX products are engineered to meet the critical needs of each specialized area of a healthcare facility, from patient rooms to clinical settings.

Enpure®

Hospital lab operations depend on deionized or reverse osmosis water for rinsing and experimentation. Enpure piping systems use virgin polypropylene with no additives or regrind, ensuring the clean transport of deionized and reverse osmosis water. Inert and chemically pure, Enpure prevents leaching and protects high-purity lab applications from contamination.

Laboratories within hospitals use specialized chemicals that require their own waste drainage systems. IPEX offers acid waste solutions made from flame-retardant polypropylene (FR-PP) or polyvinyldene fluoride (PVDF), ideal for resisting corrosive substances used in testing, research, and diagnostics.

Our Labline®, Enfield™ and Plenumline™ systems offer superior chemical resistance and long-term reliability. Enfield’s electrofusion joining system ensures leak-free, permanent connections. For plenum spaces or high-temperature environments, Plenumline provides added fire protection and chemical resistance with UL-listed ASTM E84 performance.

Hospitals maintain strict water quality plans to prevent waterborne pathogens like Legionella. Xirtec® CPVC is specifically well-suited to these environments, offering exceptional performance under high-temperature and chemically aggressive conditions. Rated for continuous operation up to 160°F and occasional 200°F service, Xirtec® CPVC can withstand chlorine-based disinfectants, including chlorine dioxide and chloramines, used in routine sanitization without degrading.

Made with Corzan® CPVC, Xirtec offers a smooth, corrosion-resistant interior that helps support higher fluid velocities that minimize biofilm buildup and enhance water system quality. It is also plenum-rated (when tested in general accordance with ASTM E84), lightweight, and more cost-effective than copper or stainless steel, making it an ideal choice for healthcare potable water systems.

PVC DWV and Drain-Guard™

Reliable drainage is essential in healthcare settings. IPEX PVC DWV systems handle stormwater, greywater, and sanitary waste with smooth, corrosion-resistant interiors that reduce blockages. In high-risk zones such as over kitchens, data centers, or surgical suites, Drain-Guard DWV double containment systems provide added protection against leak

Endura® Grease Interceptors

Endura® systems protect hospital cafeterias from clogs, backups, and noncompliance by capturing fats, oils, and grease. Their durable design supports smooth drainage while helping facilities meet sanitation and environmental requirements.

Standards & Compliance for Healthcare Piping

All IPEX thermoplastic products meet or exceed industry standards, including ASTM and CSA specifications for mechanical performance. Third-party verification ensures consistent product quality and code compliance across jurisdictions.

FAQs About Piping Systems in Healthcare & Laboratory Facilities

Xirtec® CPVC is formulated with Corzan CPVC compound for superior resistance to high heat, chlorine-based sanitizers, high fluid velocity erosion corrosion, and biofilm buildup. Its smooth surface helps maintain water quality, and it’s certified for plenum spaces (when tested in general accordance with ASTM E84), making it ideal for healthcare buildings where water quality and compliance are essential.

IPEX offers standard PVC DWV systems for sanitary and stormwater drainage. In sensitive or critical areas, Drain-Guard® provides a double-containment option to minimize leak risk. These systems resist corrosion from mildly acidic waste, cleaning agents, and organic material often found in hospital drainage lines.

Labline®, Enfield™ , and Plenumline™ systems offer high chemical and temperature resistance required in lab environments. Enfield’s electrofusion joining ensures permanent, leak-free installations. Plenumline also meets UL flame and smoke standards, making it safe for plenum spaces.

Enpure is manufactured from virgin polypropylene with no additives, which makes it inert and non-leaching. It maintains water purity for deionized and reverse osmosis applications, where contamination can compromise lab results or research outcomes.
